September was jam packed with life events for me. In case you guys didn’t know…I GOT MARRIED!!!! Then the hubby and I went on an amazing 2 week West Coast honeymoon which was all about winging it and not planning. I was totally out of my comfort zone and LOVED it. Sadly, it meant I did very little reading this month, but sometimes you need to take a step back and live life to it’s fullest. That being said, I can’t wait to get back to regular life and all of my normal reading and blogging.
This month I intended to pick up volume 2 of CHEW and failed to get back to it, so look out for that in my October posts.
I read picked up some exciting September and October selections from NetGalley that I was able to read this month. First up was DEAD WOMAN WALKING by Sharon Bolton. I absolutely loved the set-up for this plot and the conclusion was amazing! I also picked up HELLO AGAIN by Brenda Novak, which will be out in the next few days. I love watching shows like Criminal Minds, so when I read the premise for this one I knew I had to have it. I totally missed that it was the second novel in a series, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this novel and heading over to Amazon and picking up the first in the series after finishing it! Both of these were a very solid 4 stars for me.
I had the pleasure of reading ODD CHILD OUT by Gilly Macmillian, which is also the second in a series (do you all see a trend happening for me??!). I won this from LibraryThings and was blown away by Macmillian’s writing style and fantastic story. THE SCARRED WOMAN by Jussi Adler-Olsen was a NetGalley win for me that I was also lucky enough to win in a giveaway from another book blogger. I chose to carry around my paperback copy because despite the amount I read on my iPad, at heart I’m still very much a physical copy girl. This was the 7th installment in the Department Q series. I really just can’t help myself these days by breaking my rule of not starting a series anywhere but the beginning! I absolutely loved Adler-Olsen’s ability to weave so many characters and different stories into one glorious ending. Another 2 very strong 4 star books!
Here’s to October! Happy reading!
