Weekly Reads: July 30th

I can’t believe July is almost over. Where has the summer gone? Actually, can it move faster? I’m so ready for sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes, and cozy blankets. I had a really successful reading weekend thanks to taking Friday off. I’m far too old to be going to a concert on a Thursday and not booking myself a recovery day!

This week I’m planning to read…

img_8390Yes, this stack looks insane! No, I’m not reading all of these in one week!

PENPAL is my current read that I’m planning to finish up tonight. This one is fantastic so far! I’m so intrigued by every chapter and I love the way the story is unfolding. Serious creep factor as well!

Once I finish PENPAL, I’ll be digging in to BIRD BOX, which has been on my TBR for an eternity. It’s one of those books that I’m always meaning to read and am now actively making time to read. I cannot wait!

Speaking of books I cannot wait to start, let’s talk about THE STAND. Holy crap that book is a beast! And the font is small. And will I really be able to read this throughout August? That’s right, I’m back at it with another Stephen King readalong with my dear friend Janel. For some reason this one makes me more nervous than any of the other big books I’ve read this year.

I’ll be listening to A GREAT RECKONING as my audiobook selection for this week and likely part of next. I love listening to Louise Penny’s books. There is something so soothing about the narrator and the stories aren’t too intense. It’s just what I need to make my commute bearable!

Rounding out the week, I’ll be starting BAD MAN by Dathan Auerbach. This is actually my only planned review read for the month (thank you Doubleday for this copy!). I tried to take a month to read from my bookshelves because I feel like too often we get caught up in the new books and forget about the older ones. That being said…my September looks insane for review copies…oops!

  1. I started our readalong The Stand, so far so good! I’m pairing the book with the audio version. I need the help to get through this beast of a book in 5 weeks!! Bird Box is on my list to read in the near future. The movie comes out in December, so for sure by then. Looking forward to your review of it!
