Weekly Reads: August 6th

We’re six days into August and I already feel massively behind on where I want to be with reading. I had a bit of a slump over the weekend paired with a lot of housework and fun stuff with friends. That’s left me with a book I planned to finish tonight no where near happening. I know, I know…it’s okay. I’m hoping for a more productive week, but chances are low since I have to be in at 6:00 AM every day this week…how is it that an hour earlier than when I normally arrive can feel so momentously different? Thank god for coffee!

This week I’m planning to read…

img_8440Last week I started in our month long readalong of THE STAND and this week I’ll be reading another 20% or so. This book is awesome so far! I really love dystopian/post-apocalyptic books and King is setting the bar with this book. I’ve already got some pretty fantastic favorite characters I’m looking forward to learning more about. I just can’t wait to see how everything plays out.

I started BAD MAN yesterday, but have yet to get very far in. It’s no fault of the book, just not the best time management over the weekend. This one will be celebrating publication day tomorrow and I should have a review to you mid-week, so keep an eye out!

Not pictured is my current audiobook selection, A GREAT RECKONING by Louise Penny. I embarrassingly didn’t realize I had left this book out of my stack until this morning and by then it was too late to snap a new photo. I’m loving being back with Penny and the storyline in this book is different that what we normally see with Gamache. For me that difference is a huge positive, as it is keeping me invested and wanting more. Stay tuned for a review later this week!

Mid-week I’ve got a date with JACK & JILL, which is a novella by Kealan Patrick Burke. I’ve recently read and adored another novella and book by him. This title was recommended to me by a fellow bookworm as one of her favorite titles by Burke, so naturally it’s gracing my August TBR.

Subject to change, I will be spending the weekend reading KEEPER. I cannot wait to get back to a Johana Gustawsson book! BLOCK 46 blew my mind last month, so I’m already predicting this read will be a hit. Why did I say subject to change if there’s an abundance of love? Simply because I have a blog tour coming up and I’ll likely be slotting that book ahead to be able to hit my deadline. Not to fear, KEEPER is going to be right after!

What are you reading this week? Have you read any of these titles?
