Weekly Reads: October 1st

It’s finally October, which means my Halloween decoration don’t look so out of place in our living room! I can’t help myself…the stores start selling everything in September and I’m not about to put them in a closet! For this month I planned out a TBR filled with some darker and spookier reads, so let’s dig in with what I’m starting out with!

This week I’m planning to read…

img_8767Actually, before we talk books, can I just say I totally didn’t plan to have such perfect Fall colors for this week, but it makes me love my selection even more!

First up for October is THE SHINING by Stephen King. This is obviously the King read along selection of the month and one I am extremely excited for! We’re reading this over the course of two weeks, so you’ll see this beauty again next week as well. I started reading THE SHINING yesterday at the gym and was so sucked in that I didn’t even realize my treadmill time was up. I am loving how reading/audiobook listening is changing my exercise life for the better.

I also started CROSS HER HEART on my commute home last Friday. This is my audiobook selection for part of the week. Why only part of the week? Well, this book was selected for a month-long read along with two fabulous Instagramers, so I’m trying not to listen ahead. I haven’t worked out what other audiobook I’ll add into my lineup yet, but I’m leaning towards trying out some of Peter Swanson’s work.

Mixing in with these selections will be one of my most highly anticipated releases, THE CRAFTSMAN. I can’t even begin to describe how happy I was when Minotaur selected me as winner for a giveaway of an ARC for this title. Last year I read Bolton’s DEAD WOMAN WALKING and was beyond impressed. This book has some witchy elements to it, which has me feeling like it’s going to be perfect to pair with THE SHINING for kicking off October!

What are you reading this week? Have you read any of these titles?
