Weekly Reads: December 17th

It’s officially down to one week of Christmas shopping left and I’m feeling the pressure. I just haven’t been feeling particularly motivated, but I was scheming up some great wrap up posts for next week while I got ready this morning and I think the energy is back!

And on the brightest side…this is the last Monday of work for 2018 for me!

This week I’m planning to read…

img_9312I know weather forecasters think it’s awesome to talk about how this is the wettest year for the D.C./Maryland area ever, but those of us who need to take book photos aren’t loving it! Meet my boring fireplace mantel and list of reads for this week!

This stack is actually missing HARK! THE HAROLD ANGELS SCREAM, because I was confident I would finish the short story anthology last night, but fell into a Netflix binge with hubby instead. Worth it. I have about 4-5 stories left to go. I have really been enjoying this read. There have been a few duds along the way, but overall I really enjoy this book!

Last week I wrapped up KINGDOM OF THE BLIND and wasn’t sure what to start listening to next. While browsing my library’s selection I noticed that December’s Criminally Good Book Club selection, THE WIFE, was available, so I figured it would be the perfect listen to entertain me on my commute. So far I am loving the storyline and the tension Alafair Burke is building up between Angela and Jason. This book was massively well received by several bookstagramers I follow earlier in the year and it’s easy to see how they fell in love!

Tonight I’ll be starting NIGHTBLIND, which is the second book in Ragnar Jonasson’s Dark Iceland series. I adored the launch of this series (check out my review of SNOWBLIND here) and I can’t wait to see what Ari Thor is up to this time around. I am a little concerned that I read that this is actually the sixth book in the series, but when they decided to translate them to English this became book two.

I’ll be continuing to close out my month with Nordic Noir reads, as I am picking up THE REDBREAST by Jo Nesbo later in the week. I love the way the Harry Hole series is unfolding and I’ve heard particularly good things about this book. I do think the more I read these in order, the more I want to plan a re-read for THE SNOWMAN.

In between my reads this week I plan to slide in UNMEMORY by Kristi DeMeester, which is a chap book that came in my December Night Worms package. This tiny book is only 40 pages long, so I should have no trouble squeezing it in and reviewing it this week!

What are you reading this week? Have you read any of these titles?
