Since the last few days of 2018 are upon us, I thought it would be fun to feature a 2018 Wrap Up Series. Over 5 blog posts I will be highlighting books that I’ve read in 2018 across various topics: Best Instagram Book Club, Stephen King Reads, Best Debut Reads, Best Covers, and Favorites 2018 Reads.
2018 will forever live in my heart as the year I started my Stephen King Journey. Thanks to the amazing Janel {@keeperofpages} for launching a read-along in January, I fell in love with King’s writing. He has always been on my list of authors I need to read, but a ton of King’s books are massive and it’s hard to commit to reading them solo. Janel has always come up with great schedules and tons of amazing reader on Instagram have jumped into these read-alongs making each one a better experience than the last!
I have read each of these titles minus Dolores Claiborne with a group of bookworms. I mostly dropped the ball on setting up a proper buddy read for this one and just got sucked into it one weekend and binged the whole thing. You’ll be seeing me do a re-read next year and I’m really interested in if/how my opinions change.
2019 will continue on my King Journey with Janel and we already have some amazing titles lined up, so if you want to participate in anything this year, head over to Janel’s insta and sign up!
You can check out all of my reviews below!
January: Under the Dome
March: IT
May: Needful Things
June: 11/22/63
July: Dolores Claiborne
August: The Stand
September: Misery
October: The Shining
November: Doctor Sleep
December: Joyland
It’s really hard for me to pick a favorite out of all of these books! I think IT will always live in a special place in my heart because the movies reminds me of being scared out of my mind as a child! That being said, I actually think I enjoyed my read-along discussions most for Needful Things and The Stand.
This is really interesting, I have been undertaking a Castle Rock readalong this year instead of a usual chronological order , on my own, and really enjoyed reading thematically !

I really like that idea! The Castle Rock books are so inner-connected and I love stumbling upon references to other books!

Jess, you’re killing me with these posts!! ❤️ It’s so hard to pick a favourite, I think Joyland was the biggest surprise, The Stand was epic, I’m so glad we tackled that one. Under the Dome is special because I loved the TV show. You’re right, Needful Things discussion was fab, and I loved Doctor Sleep. I even enjoyed the discussion for the few I didn’t enjoy. Looking forward to many more King readalongs next year!

It’s so hard! I feel like even if I don’t particularly love a section or part of one of the books, the read-alongs fix that! Thanks for being on this journey with me and I can’t wait to carry on into 2019!
