Weekly Reads: January 28th

The last week of January is officially upon us, which means if you’re anything like me, you are running around trying to wrap up your final selections for the month and write up a slew of reviews! I managed to finish two books over the weekend. I just posted my review for NEMESIS and will have my thoughts on OUT BEHIND THE BARN hopefully ready to be posted in a little while.

img_9645This stack is what I’m hoping to finish for January. I’m at about 75% on my audiobook listen for NINE PERFECT STRANGERS. I love the narrator, but the story is just okay. I figured since I have been entertained through the audio that I would commit to finishing my listen, however, if I was reading this book I do think I would have DNF’d it long ago. I have no idea where things are going to end with this story. I mean that not in a suspense-filled way, but more of a what was the point of this book way.

I’m about halfway into CREATURES OF WANT & RUIN. I’ve been keeping a slower pace on this one for a read-along, but I might end up finishing it sooner because I really want to know what’s going to happen! I adore Tanzer’s writing style. It’s so fluid and she easily wraps the reader up in this story.

Tonight I’ll be starting in on January’s Criminally Good Book Club selection, THE AU PAIR. This was a highly anticipated 2019 release for me and I can’t wait to read it!

As for February…I have a mountain of a TBR, but haven’t decided what I’ll actually start first. I’m thinking THE SILENT PATIENT, but also want to start THE BONE KEEPER. If you’ve read either, I would love to know what you think!

What are you reading this week? Have you read any of these books?

  1. I kind of feel the same about nine perfect strangers, I feel like I keep waiting for it to get more exciting…I’m about half way through. Also listening to the audio version.

I really enjoyed the silent patient, but I did guess the ending. Still a good read thou.

    Happy reading!

    1. I definitely think The Silent Patient will be my first book for February. I’m okay with guessing the ending, as long as I enjoy the book!

The last half of Nine Perfect Strangers has taken a weird turn for me. I’m determined to power through only because I love the narrator! 😂

    1. I say give it a try if you’re interested! I think the audiobook is really well done and it was recommended to me by another blogger to listen to the book over reading it. I completely support that recommendation!
