There’s something about a holiday weekend that just brings all of my lofty TBR reading goals to a screeching halt. I think it’s because I feel like I have endless hours to read and then before I know it the weekend has flown by and the reality of going back to work tomorrow is already present. Despite not getting as much reading done as I wanted to this weekend, I have had a wonderful time hanging out with my hubby and just relaxing.
This week I have a massive stack of books reflecting my TBR, but in reality I’ve already made solid dents in two of these books. For starters, I have only a third of DUMA KEY left for our final read-along discussion on Sunday. I’m continuing to love this book and made a crazy King-inspired prediction for how things will finally play out. I can’t wait to dive back in and see if I’m right!
I’ll also be finishing up THE BONE KEEPER in the next day or so. This book is filled with creepy local lore and killings that are inspired or possibly caused by The Bone Keeper. There is a clear connection to this legend with one of the detectives and I’ve been eagerly trying to guess the truth. I’ve got a little over 100 pages until I get all the answers!
Next up will be BETON ROUGE, which is the follow-up to BLUE NIGHT, which I read and reviewed earlier this month. I’m on blog tour for this book and am really looking forward to my second go with German translated crime fiction. Buchholz has a really lovely writing style that I look forward to experiencing again.
I will also be sneaking in THE CORMORANT somewhere this week. This tiny novella is around 100 pages, but it keeps falling from my TBR due to me constantly rearranging. Hopefully I find the time to dedicate to it soon because I really want to read this one!
I have a fun post coming up for here on the blog and my Instagram about backlist reads and asking you all to vote on what I choose for my next selection, but before I turn over the voting to you all I wanted to squeeze in a backlist title I’ve been meaning to conquer for a few months. I snagged FOR BETTER AND WORSE from Book of the Month and then didn’t read it because that’s what I do! I was browsing Scribd the other day and happened to notice the audiobook was available, so this will be keeping my commute company starting tomorrow.
