Weekly Reads: March 11th

This month is flying by and I’m loving the progress I’m making on my TBR! I’ve checked off two books and am currently making my way through another two.

Cold PodcastOne thing that has changed for me this month is so far I haven’t picked up an audiobook. I’m way too caught up in listening to the podcast Cold right now and want to finish that up before moving on. This podcast is about Susan Powell who vanished in December 2009. Her body has never been found. Suspicions center around her husband, Josh Powell, and the belief that he murdered Susan. Cold dives into the case files and the couple’s backstories to give the listener an in-depth look at their lives and the events that led up to Susan’s disappearance, as well as the investigation.

Tonight I plan to wrap up A BEAUTIFUL CORPSE by Christi Daughtery. I’ve really enjoyed reading this book and haven’t had any issues with not having read the first in the series. There is a lot going on in this book with a murder investigation and possible stalking in the life of the main character. I’m looking forward to how it will wrap up!

I’ll also be finishing up FIRESTARTER by Stephen King, which I am love, love, loving! I went into this one a bit blind after reading the synopsis many months ago. I am pleasantly surprised by the subject matter and the story’s progression. I’m hoping for an epic ending!

Tomorrow I’m planning to crack open THE COURIER, which is latest from Kjell Ola Dahl. Last year I read THE ICE SWIMMER by Dahl and adored his writing style. The premise for his latest centers around Ester, who was a Jewish courier in the 1940’s and barely escaped being arrested by the Gestapo. She had a relationship with a man who was known as a hero during that time. Ester believed he died in a fire, but now, twenty-five years later, he has reappeared. Keep your eye out for my stop on the blog tour on the 16th!

Rounding out the week I’m hoping to start in on WILL HAUNT YOU by Brian Kirk, which came in March’s Night Worms package. The ladies behind Night Worms are hosting a read-along for this one and while I’m likely going to miss the first discussion, I do want to make sure I get to participate in the later chats. This book sounds delightfully creepy, as it centers around a deadly book known to bring personalized terror upon it’s readers. I have a feeling I’m definitely going to need to read this one in the daylight hours!
