Weekly Reads: May 13th

My reading has been up and down all month as I try and balance all the books I want to read with the books I need to read with the fun non-reading things I have planned! Some months are easier and more laid back than others and I try to remind myself of that. I also try to remind myself to not make such ridiculous monthly hopeful TBRs for myself, but I typically ignore that one!

811ae243-4763-4fd6-ac61-3cd03ff4db9bI’m currently wrapping up TURBULENT WAKE by Paul Hardisty (not pictured because my iPad refused to not be super glare-y). I’m loving this story and alternating between our narrator, Ethan, and excerpts from the manuscript his recently deceased father left behind. I just got to the part where Ethan’s father is reflecting back on his time in Ghana and it’s giving me all the feels. I went there during college for a study abroad trip and loved every moment!

This week I’ll be focusing on two upcoming releases. First up will be THE ISLAND by Ragnar Jonasson, which is the second installment in his Hidden Island series. I was swept away by THE DARKNESS last year and am really looking forward to being back with main character, Hulda. I’ll also be reading THE FAVORITE DAUGHTER by Kaira Rouda. I adored her 2017 release, BEST DAY EVER, and I’m excited to see what she has come up with this time around!

My audiobook selection for the week is continuing on with MIRACLE CREEK, which I am absolutely loving! I know there is a lot of hype surrounding this book currently. It’s definitely living up to what I’ve heard so far and I can’t wait to see how everything ends.

What are you reading this week? Have you read any of these titles?

  1. There is so much hype around Miracle Creek, especially on bookstagram. It’s basically the next Daisy Jones or Crawdads? I’m quite excited to read it though, I love books with ‘courtroom dramas’ and the like. I’m finishing up Little Fires Everywhere and I’m really enjoying it! Happy reading 🙂

    1. I snagged my copy from Book of the Month right before the hype train took off! I was a little worried that I would hate it or be let down, but so far that’s definitely not the case. Happy reading to you too! 🙂
