Weekly Reads: August 16th

Since most books publish on Tuesdays my weeks seem heavier with reviews in the beginning of the week, which leaves me with toying with keeping my Weekly Reads posts at the end of the week. I also think that gives it a nice space of it’s own to reflect on what I’ve accomplished this past week.

 For August’s King read-along selections we decided to undertake the entire Bill Hodges trilogy, which I thought would require a ton of dedication to make sure I was showing the books enough time. Wrong! I’ve actually moved around some ARC reads because I can’t stop reading this series!

I finished MR. MERCEDES last Sunday and immediately jumped into FINDERS KEEPERS! My verdict: amazing! I loved book two just as much as I did book one and I’m really intrigued about where the ending left me and where book three, END OF WATCH will pick back up.

In the beginning of the year I did a great job checking off backlist titles from my shelves with the help of audiobooks. I’ve slipped up from doing that consistently, so this week I wanted to bring it back into play. I picked up TANGERINE because I thought it would be perfect for these hot days still left of summer. I was a bit concerned that I wouldn’t enjoy this one because of all of the mixed reviews this book has received. I went in with an open mind and found myself firmly on team love this book! I have a handful of chapters left for my commute home and will certainly be sharing a glowing review next week.

Last night I picked up the book that might be my most anticipated release of the summer and year…THE WHISPER MAN! I stalked all of the UK reviews for this book and almost purchased it several times from Book Depository. I most definitely did an embarrassing cheer/screaming routine when I opened my mail from Celadon with my advanced copy!
