Ania Thorne has recently taken over her father’s jewelry empire. She plans to bring the company back to popularity in Cannes where she will reveal a stunning new collection. The Leopard, a notorious jewel thief, has other plans. He has made off with Ania’s treasures and seems determined to stop her from succeeding. Jerome Curtis thinks he knows a thing or two about the Leopard, but when he’s assigned to investigate Ania’s loss he realizes his nemesis might be more dangerous than he originally assumed. The chase is on and as tensions rise, so do feelings between Ania and Jerome. With everything on the line, can they solve the steal or will the steal take more than diamonds from them?
THE STEAL is a fun and entertaining romantic caper set in the 1950s. Told through alternating narratives from Jerome and Ania, the reader finds themselves fully invested and rooting for the takedown of the Leopard. I loved the ease that this story unfolded with. The transitions were seamless and the level of tension was just right. This isn’t gory or flashy, but it’s subtle ode to crime fiction of days past is perfect for a one-sitting read.
