The challenge: spend a week hiding in an abandoned amusement park and don’t get caught.

The prize: enough money to change everything.

Even though everyone is desperate to win–to seize their dream futures or escape their haunting pasts–Mack feels sure that she can beat her competitors. All she has to do is hide, and she’s an expert at that. It’s the reason she’s alive, and her family isn’t. But as the people around her begin disappearing one by one, Mack realizes this competition is more sinister than even she imagined, and that together might be the only way to survive. Fourteen competitors. Seven days. Everywhere to hide, but nowhere to run.

I love books set in amusement parks! Throw in a competition with deadly consequences and I’m absolutely going to read it! HIDE immediately sucked me into the storyline with a compelling main character, Mack, and an intriguing premise. I wanted to know more about Mack, the competition, the park, and our secondary characters. White delivers on all of these points throughout the book. I’ve seen a lot of people not happy with how many characters there are to remember and while I agree there are a lot of people, I really appreciated that White gave little details about all the characters, including those who only had brief cameos in the story. In addition to an interesting cast of characters, I was fascinated with the backstory of the park and competition. White cleverly added some journal entries to tell this piece and I thought it was a great way to share the information in a more personal manner. I absolutely enjoyed this book and think it’s perfect for summer reading line-ups, but could easily be enjoyed all year long!

A huge thank you to Del Rey for my gifted copy!
